The activists were led by T.S. Srivatsa, Krishnaraja MLA, who dubbed the proposed legislation as a draconian act to curb freedom of speech and suppress the opposition. The activists raised slogans against the government and said that the Bill was not only unconstitutional but an attempt to muzzle the voices of those criticising the government. BJP leaders tore copies of the Bill and carried placards with slogans on black backgrounds to signal that it was a black law that would take away the freedom of speech from people. The BJP activists said the agitation would be intensified in the days ahead and be held across the State. They further expressed concerns that if it becomes a law, it could be used as a tool for political vendetta by the Congress. Published - December 24, 2025 08:16 pm IST
